I think we took the best line in regard to Conference. We were all glad you accepted our view.
Hope you approved speech at opening. Told it pleased dominions and drew sentiment to our side.
We are acting on all committees so far. Have met British socially, not otherwise. Relations friendly so far. I stated frankly our position at first Committee. Thomas's reply left matters as before. As result our opinion is British don't wish do anything oblige us leave here.
Bennett1 (Prime Minister) has suggested I have private talk with him expect with view opening talks with British. Expect see Bennett today. We will only stay so long as there is hope of achieving something useful.
