No. 28 NAI 2006/39
London, 3 March 1937
It will be recalled that I sent a Secret minute on 2 November 1934 about the question which had been raised by the British Home Office of taking special precautions at the ports to prevent the admission of dangerous or undesirable aliens in connection with the wedding of the Duke of Kent and the Silver Jubilee Celebrations in 1935.
Sir Edward Harding now informs me that the British Home Office in connection with the Coronation propose about the middle of April to take measures similar to those which were taken in November 1934 - as set out in the letter of Sir Ernest Holderness to me of the 2nd November 1934 and enclosed with the above Secret minute - and they hope that we will be prepared as in 1934 to take similar measures in An Saorstát.
May I give a reply on the lines of your Secret minute of the 9th November 1934?
