Portugal steadily refusing to make concessions to United States. President Carmona's1 visit to Azores reported in great detail, as also arrival Portuguese special mission in Brazil.
Advance of German Army very impressive when plotted on maps. Losses said to be comparatively moderate; still they are, of course, much higher than in previous campaigns. Most people had hoped Russia would suddenly col-lapse, but there seems to be little chance of this. Majority of prisoners taken confirmed Communists.
Attempted Russian air-raids on Berlin have had practically no effect. One night only single plane reached city and dropped few bombs, damaging dwelling houses.
