DUBLIN, 8 May 1945

Following official statement issued today Begins

Dr. Hempel, the German Minister, called on the Minister for External Affairs this morning and informed him that in view of the events which had occurred he regarded his mission as terminated. Dr. Hempel stated that he was vacating the Legation premises and that he wished the Irish Government to take charge of them and of the German Government property contained therein until the assumption of the Government of the Reich by the new authority.
