Consideration was given to a memorandum dated 11th July, 1946,1 submitted by the Minister for External Affairs on the subject of membership of the United Nations Organisation. It was decided that a motion to the following effect should be moved in Dáil Éireann by the Minister for External Affairs:-
Dáil Éireann being willing to assent to acceptance of the obligations contained in the Charter signed at San Francisco on the 26th June, 1945, recommends the Government to take steps with a view to Ireland's admission to membership of the United Nations Organisation as soon as they consider it opportune to do so.

The international network of Editors of Diplomatic Documents was founded in 1988. Delegations from different parts of the world met for the first time in London in 1989.
