Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 3rd June, 1948,1submitted by the Minister for External Affairs with a copy of a telegram received by the Minister from Moshe Shertok, Foreign Secretary of the Provisional Government of the State of Israel, seeking the recognition of the State of Israel by the Government of Ireland, approval was given to the Minister's proposal that no action should be taken in regard to the telegram apart from an appropriate acknowledgement.

The international network of Editors of Diplomatic Documents was founded in 1988. Delegations from different parts of the world met for the first time in London in 1989.
