Minister is anxious to be kept closely informed of opinion in official circles in France, Belgium, etc. on present evolution of international situation. Please take early opportunity of calling on Foreign Minister or his deputy and eliciting views on the situation particularly as regards likelihood of armed clash. Please report as soon as possible results of these interviews as well as any other authoritative opinions you may obtain.
