Your telegram 59.1 I have given note to Prime Minister who said view he held and had expressed to British Prime Minister and to his own Minister for External Affairs is that for reasons given in our note he would like to see some link to replace Crown, something which could be referred to in legislation. He and his Government are not interested in Crown except in so far as it is useful fiction. For kinship more than anything else he hopes we can suggest a method of association free from objection we properly have to the British Crown.
