'Repeal of Executive Authority (External Relations) Act, 1936: Discussions with Representatives of the British and Commonwealth Governments'

Dublin, 14 November 1948

The Minister for External Affairs brought to the notice of the Government a Note of the 13th November, 1948, which was handed to him on that date by the British Representative in Dublin, containing views of the British Government on the subject of the proposed repeal of the Executive Authority (External Relations) Act, 1936, together with the text of a message from Paris, from representatives of the Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand governments, which was received by the Minister from the British Representative on the 14th November, 1948. Copies of the two communications appear in the annexed Schedules A and B.1

It was decided that the Ministers for External Affairs and Finance and the Attorney General should go to Paris on Monday, the 15th November, 1948 to meet representatives of the Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand Governments for the purpose of resuming the discussions which took place at Chequers on the 17th October, 1948.
