Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 5th March, 1949,1 submitted by the Minister for External Affairs and of the advice of the Attorney General,2 relative to the disposal of the jewels which were given as security for a loan of $20,000 made to the Representative of the Russian Soviet Republic in the United States of America from the American Account of the First Dáil in 1920, it was decided that the Minister, on behalf of the Minister for Finance, should apply to the Government of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics for the repayment of the loan.
