Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 2nd June, 1949, submitted by the Minister for External Affairs1 with the text of the Statute of the Council of Europe which was signed in London on the 5th May, 1949, it was decided to ratify the Statute in the terms of the text accompanying memorandum.
The Minister was authorised
(1) | (a) | to submit the Statute to Dáil Éireann, for approval prior to ratifi- cation, and also to submit it to Seanad Éireann, and |
(b) | to take, on behalf of the Government, such other steps as might be necessary for the ratification of the Statute; and |

(2) | to move for leave to introduce, in Dáil Éireann, a Supplementary Estimate to cover Ireland's contribution to the Council of Europe and provision for the attendance of Irish delegations at meetings of the Committee of Ministers and the session of the Consultative Assembly which is due to open at Strasbourg in August, 1949. |
