With reference to Mr. McCann's minute of the 23rd May, 1950,1 regarding the adoption of Irish children by foreigners, we have decided that in the event of your receiving any further enquiries from American citizens your best course would be to tell them that they should address their enquiries to the American Embassy in this country.
You should inform the Consulate General and Consulates accordingly.
I am enclosing a copy of a letter dated the 9th May, 1950, addressed to us by the 'St. Louis Globe - Democrat'. You might reply to this letter and inform the writer that we regret that our records do not give the information which he requires.
