the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Geneva)

The national collection for the relief of Hungary organised by the Irish Red Cross Society has realised more than £100,000. Arrangements are being made with the International Red Cross as to manner of expenditure. It has been agreed that Ireland will accept up to 1,000 refugees. Details of transport admission and maintenance now being worked out. Further communication will follow as soon as possible.
