No. 87 NAI DFA LN 65

Letter from Michael MacWhite to Desmond FitzGerald (Dublin)
(M.L. 03/0224)

Geneva, 3 May 1927

A Chara,

With reference to your letter No. L.N.65/61,1 re Sir Austen Chamberlain's statement at the 44th Session of the Council, I had an interview with the Secretary General and was informed that the British Government had asked for the necessary correction to be made in the minutes which will appear in printed form in the course of a week or two. In the meantime, I could not insist that an 'Erratum' be issued, as the Provisional minutes are always subject to correction.

As soon, however, as the printed minutes are distributed, I will see as to what can be done towards giving discreet publicity in the Irish press to the alteration.

I pretended to Sir Eric that the error was due to the carelessness of some of his officials, but he only shook his head and smiled.

Mise, le meas,
[signed] M. MacWhite
