No. 59  NAI DFA Secretary's Files P12/14/1

Personal code telegram from Joseph P. Walshe to Robert Brennan (Washington)
(No. 105)

DUBLIN, 8 May 1941

In the course of his conversation with Taoiseach 28th April, American Minister maliciously suggested Friends of Irish Neutrality financed by Germany1. Also said he would not advise his Government to give us arms unless we guaranteed not to attack British even if they seized ports. Becoming more unfriendly and arrogant every day.
