With reference to your minute of the 11th instant and accompanying memorandum relative to alien internees,1 I am to inform you that at a meeting of the Government held on the 19th instant it was decided that the seven alien internees should be retained in custody for the present and that the three aliens serving sentences of penal servitude should be held under their sentences after the date on which they would in the ordinary way be released on 'remission' for good conduct.
