Extract from the minutes of a meeting of the Cabinet
'Irish Transatlantic Airport'
(GC 4/160) (Item 1) (S8814B)

Dublin, 30 April 1946

Consideration was given to a memorandum dated 17th April, 1946,1 submitted by the Minister for Industry and Commerce, on the subject of the Irish Transatlantic Airport. It was agreed that Shannon Airport (Rineanna) should continue to be developed as the main Transatlantic Airport and that Dublin Airport should be developed as a full-scale Continental class airport for use as an alternate to Shannon for transatlantic traffic.
