No. 528 NAI DFA EA 231/4/1931

Letter from Seán Murphy (for Joseph P. Walshe) to Count Gerald O'Kelly de Gallagh (Paris)
(E.A. 231/4) (Copy)

Paris, 6 March 1931

I am directed by the Minister for External Affairs to refer to your letter 168/31 of the 6th February1 enquiring as to the attitude of the Legation towards the Royal Family. The Minister is of opinion that for some time to come at any rate you should not participate in meeting royal personages on their arrival at Paris.

With regard to the question of the Royal toast, the Minister is quite in favour of your suggestion that, when toasting the King, he should be toasted as 'Le Roi d'Irlande', and if possible the 'Soldier's Song' should be played as on previous occasions in Brussels.

[stamped] (Signed) Seán Murphy
