Dublin, 27 May 1939

I am directed by the Minister to forward you herewith, for your information, copies of two telegrams dated the 20th and the 27th May respectively1 which have been exchanged with the Union of South Africa regarding that country's forthcoming candidature for the League of Nations Council.

The Minister personally considered the South African request and directed that it should be replied to by an assurance of complete approval and support.
