(No. 166) (2/12)

DUBLIN, 28 July 1944

My telegram no. 156.1 Can you ascertain whether South American citizens mentioned in your telegram 962 include families referred to in my telegram 5.3 It is now alleged that South Americans in Vittel with exception of 29 sick persons were deported April 18th and May 16th to camp in Germany possibly BERGEN BELSEN near Hanover for eventual deportation to Poland.

Please make enquiries and report as soon as possible (whether) intention is to retain South American cases for eventual exchange and not to deport to Poland. If it would help we could telegraph to you surnames of families we are interested in.
