Extract from the minutes of a meeting of the Cabinet 'Ireland's position regarding proposed Commonwealth Conference'
(GC 5/35) (Item 2) (S14333)

Dublin, 9 September 1948

Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 9th September, 1948,1 relative to a meeting of representatives of the States of the British Commonwealth of Nations proposed to be held in London in October, 1948, it was decided

  1. that the Minister for External Affairs should discuss further with the British Representative the question of Ireland's being represented at the conference, and
  2. that, subject to Ireland's position in relation to the British Commonwealth of Nations being made clear, a representative of Ireland should attend for the purpose of taking part in the discussion of certain items on the agenda of the conference.
