Further information shows candidate has a slight knowledge of English. Name already rumoured as candidate in Secretariat and among Irish clergymen. Reaction of latter absolutely opposed to appointment of anyone of nationality concerned. Perhaps Minister would think well of very early decision. To avoid danger of deliberate leakage here I am denying all knowledge of any appointment.
