Extract from the minutes of a meeting of the Cabinet
'Arrest of Cardinal Mindszenty: telegram to Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs'
(GC 5/57) (Item 10) (S14458)

Dublin, 31 December 1948

The Minister for External Affairs intimated that, following the announcement of the arrest by the Hungarian authorities on the 26th December, 1948, of his Eminence Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty, Primate of Hungary, the Minister had dispatched to the Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs1 a telegram in the terms of the annexed schedule.

The Minister's action in the matter was approved.
