No. 305 NAI DFA London Embassy F100/5/7

Letter from John A. Costello to Clement Attlee (London)

Dublin, 18 April 1949

On behalf of myself and my colleagues I thank you sincerely for your kind message of greeting. We assure you of our cordial good wishes for the prosperity and progress of the British people. Mindful of the many ties of kinship and common interest between our two countries I earnestly pray that the 18th April will prove to be not merely a landmark in our national history but the beginning of a new and happier era in the relations between Ireland and Britain.
