Extract from the minutes of a meeting of the Cabinet
'Erne hydro-electric scheme: Proposals for legislation and an Agreement between Electricity Supply Board and Ministry of Finance, Belfast'
(GC 5/166) (Item 1) (S13314)

Dublin, 4 April 1950

Following consideration of a memorandum dated the 29th March, 1950, submitted by the Minister for Industry and Congress,1 it was decided

  1. to grant authority for the drafting of a Bill, on the lines of the General Scheme accompanying the memorandum, conferring power on the Electricity Supply Board to enter into an Agreement with the Ministry of Finance, Belfast, relating to the control of the water levels in Upper and Lower Loughs Erne in connection with the proposed hydroelectric scheme and providing for other matters relating thereto;
  2. to authorise the Minister to move for leave to introduce the Bill, when drafted, in Dáil Éireann;2 and
  3. to approve the terms of the proposed Agreement, as set out in the draft thereof accompanying a previous memorandum dated 1 February, 1950,3 submitted by the Minister on the matter.
