No. 474 NAI DFA/5/305/134

(No. 1959)

London, 3 July 1950

At present there appears to be a dearth of news here about the weekend happenings in Korea.

In Whitehall also India House and Australia House one is told there is a complete blank at the moment.

The view still prevails in London that the struggle will in all probability not extend beyond Korea.

As the Russians did not fight at the beginning of the Berlin air crisis - when I am credibly informed they could have won 'hands down' - it is thought that they will not fight now.
