I have consulted the Taoiseach with regard to the question of the admission of Jewish children, referred to in your letter of the 25th October.1 It is true that he recently received Dr. Hertzog who referred to this matter in the course of conversation. The Taoiseach, I understand, was non-committal. It is, however, his view that permission for the 100 Jewish children to come here should not be withheld provided that guarantees that their stay will be of definite limited duration are given by a responsible organisation. He would not press for an official guarantee that they will in due course be allowed into another State.
