Extract from the minutes of a meeting of the Cabinet
'Emergency Preparation: Discussions with representatives of the Government of the United States of America'
(GC 5/206) (Item 3) (S14909)

Dublin, 26 September 1950

On the recommendation of the Taoiseach, it was decided to authorise the Minister for External Affairs to open discussions with representatives of the Government of the United States of America, with a view to such arrangements as might be found practicable for providing stocks of essential commodities derived from dollar sources and for maintaining supplies of such commodities during an emergency.
