'Emergency Preparation: Information as to British plans'

Dublin, 26 September 1950

On the recommendation of the Taoiseach, it was decided

  1. that the Ambassador to Great Britain should be instructed to make approaches to the British Government with a view to securing such information regarding British plans for an emergency as may be required for the purposes of emergency preparation in this country and, particularly, information regarding British plans in respect of the provision and control of supplies and services essential to the life of the community; and
  2. that the approaches to be so made by the Ambassador to Great Britain should not exclude the utilisation of existing contacts between Irish and British Government Departments.
